How to implement a Newsletter Funnel in your business
Sales funnels are a vital part of every business.
No matter if you’re selling online courses, services, or mattresses there has to be a way for a potential customer to find your offer and make a purchase.
And, what not many recognise, newsletters serve as a great starting point to any of such funnels.
Here’s how.
The most effective way of converting random people on the internet into leads is by providing value. But providing value itself won’t help you if you can’t (tangibly) capture their interest.
Newsletters solve both issues.
They’re lead magnets in itself - converting people into leads (emails) and having an evergreen nurturing mechanism (the newsletter itself).
Thanks to their nature, they also let you collect more data on your leads and present them with the most relevant offer (thanks to this data).
Let’s work on a live example.
A DTC mattress company. Why not? 😅
A newsletter about mattresses is probably too niche but how about a newsletter about health optimisation - a popular topic that’s also aligned with the problem that our product solves?
So, we create such a newsletter either using our brand or we create a completely separate one. Whatever makes more sense.
Then, we run cheap ads targeting people who are A) in the target group for our newsletter and B) in the target group for our product.
If the pool is big enough and we’re working with well-optimised creatives, we should be able to generate leads for anywhere between .5 and 2 dollars.
Now, after someone subscribes to our newsletter, we run a quick survey to get to know them better and learn more about their health goals.
One of the nodes of that survey should be optimised around our core product which, in this case, is sleep optimisation.
If our lead lands in that node, we can present them an offer at the end of that survey.
A small percentage will convert making our ads profitable on the front-end.
The majority won’t buy right away but we have their email addresses and valuable data that we can later use in each newsletter we send to customise our offer and present the most relevant products and solutions.
What’s more, now that we have a proper newsletter, we can:
Get feedback from our list - effectively doing market research for free. Something that most brands have to pay for.
Launch new products and offers - you already have a long list of prospects so why not create products that they’re ready to buy?
Add new revenue streams - affiliate sales, sponsored segments, you name it.
A newsletter funnel ticks all the boxes for what a great funnel should be able to achieve. That is:
Collect data
Capture interest
Present the most relevant offer
Convert visitors into customers
Capture leads for long-term nurturing
And the best thing is that it doesn’t matter if you’re running an agency, selling digital courses, memberships or even physical products. A newsletter funnel can help you improve sales and, as a byproduct, improve the long-term security of your brand and build an additional asset that you can add to your portfolio.

How a guy turned 3 YouTube Channels into $3 Billion Dollars (watch here)
An interesting story from the latest episode of MFM. Some guy basically spotted online assets (YouTube channels in a specific niche) with a huge reach and audience but no monetisation strategy. Just because he noticed the opportunity and got the funding he was able to turn his bet into $3 Billion Dollars. I believe there’s a similar opportunity in the newsletter world either through buying undervalued newsletters or by creating ones for underserved niches.

Growing your business is fun.
This morning, I was feeling down because I had little to no response to my sponsor outreach for one of my projects.
Then, around 5 pm, I got 4 yeses.
Just. Keep. Going.
